Hi, I’m Fluff! Yes, I am a cat.
I love to nap, play with my mouse toy, cuddles for hours in blankets, and bird watch from my cat tree. I am sure you have seen me around on my mom’s insta page, and today I am on the blog to tell my story. Here’s how it goes…
Back in July of 2017, Kaitlyn’s parents put out a bowl of dry cat food on their front porch that their indoor cat was no longer eating. They figured, “Hey, there are feral cats in the neighborhood so lets not waste it. If we put this food out, someone will eat it.” Well little did they know that, that “someone” would be me!
At first, all they noticed was that the food was disappearing out of the bowl, so they keep putting it out (they had a big bag!). Cuz you know, someone was eating it (me!).
Then one day, while walking by the front door, they spotted me!
I was very scared back then. As soon as I saw someone watching me through the window or try to come outside, I would run away. I’m not gonna lie though, it was a tough life being a stray so I always came back and finished my bowl.
After seeing me come back day after day, Kaitlyn’s parents also started putting a can of wet food out for me (that was so nice of them!). They typically put that food out in the morning before they went to work, and once I realized that, I started showing up every morning and would sit on the porch waiting for my food.
That’s actually how I got my name! Instead of saying, “that stray is here for it’s food,” they started to call me Fluffy!
I would keep my distance when they fed me, but over time I learned to trust them, and I finally let them touch me! Wow was I brave!!
I had never been pet before, and I didn’t know how to act when being pet. I used to really awkwardly wiggle my body and move like a robot. It was weird concept at first, I had never been loved before…
Months went by and I still continued to show up every morning. I let the humans put a collar on me with a note that said “is this your cat? I have been feeding it. Can you please call me XXX-XXX-XXXX” But no one ever called.
I saw that they put flyers up around the neighborhood with my picture on it (I felt famous!), but still no one called.
Six months went by and it was now winter time. Kaitlyn went to her parents house one day after work, and that’s when her mom said to her, “its going to be very cold tonight, below zero. I am going to try to catch Fluffy and bring her inside.”
By that point I was getting feed two cans a day so they knew I would be showing up for my dinner soon.
They opened the door, put my bowl of food on the entryway floor, and called out to me, “Fluffy! It’s time for dinner!”
I appeared out of the darkness, but I was hesitant to go in the house. I had never been in there before. I decided to risk it. It felt warm and I was hungry.
They tried to shut the door behind me, but I was too fast. I ran back outside.
I was still hungry though and for some reason they wouldn’t put my food in it’s normal spot, so after a few minutes I decided to go back in.
The door was instantly shut behind me and I started to cry, but after a few minutes of being pet and talked to calmly, I knew I was going to be okay.
The next day Kaitlyn took me to the vet. I got checked for a microchip (I didn’t have one), got a microchip that registered me to Kaitlyn, got a check up ( I was pretty healthy!) and all my shots. The vet told me that I was around 1 or 2 years old back then.
Kaitlyn then took me home to her apartment.
I was given lot of toys, a litter pan, and my very first bed. Thats also when I first met my dad, Kevin!
I was scared, but I loved to cuddle and experience new things. Like catnip!
My life has been pretty great since Kaitlyn brought me home. Like I said before, I love to look out the window from my cat tree and watch the birds, and I take lots and lots of naps on my favorite blanket or in my bed.
I go by lots of fun nicknames now like Fluff, Puff, Puff Pastry, or Fluff Puff.
I also LOVE my parents! I sleep on their bed every night, give them lots of cuddles, and meow at them when I went attention. They also always brush me, and give me lots of catnip too. Mom keeps telling me when we move into the new house, I’m gonna get an even bigger cat tree!
Well I hope you all enjoyed reading my story! This was a lot to narrate! I am going to go take another cat nap!
XOXO, Fluff
