One of my favorite, every day shower products is a yummy smelling sugar scrub! Check out my favorite 3-ingredient DIY recipe!
I use sugar scrubs year round, but particularly love using them during the winter. Sugar scrubs are not only great for exfoliating, but they also have such great essential oils and nutrients for you skin. I hardly have to use lotions afterwards because my skin is so moisturized and soft!
I used to grab fruity sugar scrubs from Ulta or whatever I could find at TJMaxx, but then I received a homemade sugar scrub as a gift from one of my good friends.
I was so obsessed that I asked from the recipe and have been making it ever since! The best part, it’s only 3-ingredients and take five minutes to make! There is seriously no turning back once you try it!
Now, I have been meaning to share this recipe for a while, but with Valentine’s Day right about the corner, I decided to share this as DIY Galentine’s Day gift! Whether you are exchanging Valentines with your best girl friends or need a party favor for a Galentine’s Day celebration, this post has you covered!
Time to gather your ingredients!
The first step is gathering your ingredients and a shower safe container. You will need sugar, oil (either olive, avocado, or coconut), essential oil, and the contain of your choice.
For me, I grabbed your typical granulated sugar, and olive oil (that’s where the yellow color comes from in my scrub). For essential oils, I use Healing Solutions oils. On Amazon they probably have over 40 scents! Here are the ones I recommend for a scrub:
I used the Hope Blend Essential Oil for my scrub. It is a citrus blend and smells so amazing!
Another tip and trick you can try with your sugar scrub recipe is that you can substitute essential oils with cooking extracts. I used vanilla extract the first time I made this recipe!
Time to mix it up!
1. Measure 1 cup of sugar into a mixing bowl.
2. Stir in 1/3 cup of oil and mix. For a more moisturizing scrub, add a total of 1/2 cup of oil (I prefer it this way).
3. Add 5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil to the sugar and oil mixture. Stir to combine.
4. Put your sugar scrub into a shower safe container or jar. You can use your sugar scrub on hands and body. Since there are no preservatives, I recommend using your scrub within 30 days. Enjoy!
