I can’t believe the first official day of spring is next week! We have still been having some very cold and windy days here in Maryland, but I am seeing the light at the end of the winter tunnel!
With spring basically here, and summer right around the corner, I wanted to share my favorite farms to go and pick your own flowers in the DC metro area. These places are open seasonally so check their websites and follow them on their social media accounts for the most up to date info.
Burnside Farms, Nokesville, VA- Pick you own daffodils, tulips, and sunflowers. I have been here to pick tulips and daffodils before! Make sure to visit their website for ticket info. They sell out fast!
Big White Barn, Frederick, MD- Pick your own flowers! I visited in 2022 and there was a variety of species, I remember bring home lots of zinnias and sunflowers. $20 per cup of flowers. Cup and snips provided.
Rock Hill Orchard, Mount Airy, MD- Pick your own flowers! I actually haven’t been to this farm before, but their website says they have flowers to pick. I plan to visit this year and will update this post after I go! They have a farmers market and ice cream too!
Soleado Lavender Farm, Dickerson, MD- I picked lavender here a few years ago! Check their website for this year’s tickets “pick your own” events.
Seven Oaks Lavender Farm, Dumfries, VA- This is another farm that I want to check out this summer! Pick your own lavender and their website mentions lavender lemonade, lavender shortbread cookies, lavender-lemon cupcakes, lavender ice cream and Aura Bora Lavender Cucumber Seltzer offered daily! Their social media mentions other flower species too.
Tickets range from $5-$7 per person and include 20 lavender stems.
Field of Flowers, Purcellville, VA- Another farm I haven’t checked out yet, but wow! their website and social media is all things come “pick your own.” Definitely adding this one to my summer list!
Cash, check, or Venmo only! They over 3 container sizes: Small bouquet cups are $15, Large bouquet cups are $20, and Pail sized buckets, when available, are $40.
