New in Washington, DC: The Kitten Lounge! Accepting cuddles now!
While watching The Bachelor finale, my sister texted me a picture of a friend cuddling a kitten and sitting in front of a neon pink cat themed sign. Her text said, “let’s go!” Instantly I was sold. I paused The Bachelor and was scanning Instagram to find this mystical place.
Found it!
Crumbs & Whiskers has opened a pop-up Kitten Lounge in Georgetown! What is Crumbs & Whiskers and The Kitten Lounge, you ask? They are cat rescue themed cafes! They are places for you to relax in a room full of rescue cats, enjoy your favorite caffeinated beverage, and adopt a new best friend (or friends- I wanted them all!). Every cat has been rescued from a high kill shelter and is up for adoption.
As an animal lover, I knew this was an organization I wanted to support, and who doesn’t want to cuddle kittens!? Being a pop-up, I knew I wanted to visit The Kitten Lounge first. The Kitten Lounge is currently open from March to June only. Its purpose: to help shelters with the influx of spring kittens.
Our Visit
We arrived about 30 minutes early and checked in (totally unnecessary, 5-10 minutes would suffice). 3 minutes-ish before our reservation time, we were called into the lounge and asked to sit along the bench lining the wall. After being welcomed, we were free to cuddle and explore!
There were around 20 kittens roaming around the lounge. Each was available for adoption (most already had been!). Here are some pictures of the lounge and cuddles!
About 10 minutes into our visit we were served the drinks and dessert we ordered. I recommend the mint tea and chocolate chip cookie! There was also coffee and cookie dough.
After 30 minutes of cuddles and snacks, our visit came to an end when staff asked us to say farewell to the kittens in our laps. They thanked us for our visit and encouraged us to visit their main location, Crumbs & Whiskers (They have cat yoga!!). We also received a polaroid picture and a Crumbs & Whiskers sticker from our kitten experience.
I highly recommend checking out The Kitten Lounge or Crumbs & Whiskers while visiting Georgetown. What a fun way to give to an animal in need. Remember, adopt don’t shop!
